WORKING GROUP 5

Sustainability, Regulation & Commercialization

WG5 evaluates the environmental, economic, and social sustainability of fiber extraction processes and maps regulatory requirements to ensure safe and compliant market entry. By conducting LCA, sLCA, cost-benefit analyses, and regulatory assessments, WG5 supports commercialization pathways and strengthens industry confidence in food waste-derived fibers. This work ensures that the entire value chain—from extraction (WG2) to product development (WG6)—aligns with EU standards, market demands, and global sustainability priorities.
