DESCRIPTION:  \n6 October 2026 | 14:00–15:00 CEST | Online \nENFiber COST Action (CA24111)\, in collaboration with APRISE\, invites researchers\, professionals\, and stakeholders to join the upcoming webinar “Climate Crisis\, Sustainable Food Systems and the Role of Plant-Based Foods.” \nThe webinar will take place online on 6 October 2026\, from 14:00 to 15:00 CEST\, and will be delivered by Ebru Akdağ\, President of the Plant-Based Foods Association (BİTKİDEN). \nWebinar overview\nThe climate crisis is reshaping discussions around food production\, food safety\, nutrition\, and the sustainability of food systems. Plant-based foods and the efficient use of food-processing resources are increasingly relevant to the transition towards more sustainable and circular food systems. \nThis webinar will explore how plant-rich diets can contribute to climate action and public health and examine the protein transition from traditional staples to next-generation plant-based foods. \nParticular attention will also be given to food-waste reduction and side-stream valorization\, highlighting opportunities to create circular value from food-processing by-products and support more resource-efficient food systems. \nThe session will cover: \n\nThe climate crisis and its implications for food systems and food safety.\nThe role of plant-rich diets in climate action and public health.\nThe transition from traditional staples to next-generation plant-based foods.\nFood-waste reduction and side-stream valorization as approaches to circular value creation.\n\nAbout the speaker\nEbru Akdağ is President of the Plant-Based Foods Association (BİTKİDEN)\, based in Istanbul\, Türkiye. She specializes in food safety\, science-based public health communication\, and sustainable nutrition. \nShe holds a BSc in Food Engineering and an MSc in Engineering Management from Middle East Technical University (METU) and is currently pursuing a PhD in Public Relations and Advertising at Bahçeşehir University.
