SUMMARY:ENFiber Webinar: Climate Crisis\, Sustainable Food Systems and the Role of Plant-Based Foods
DESCRIPTION:  \n6 October 2026 | 14:00–15:00 CEST | Online \nENFiber COST Action (CA24111)\, in collaboration with APRISE\, invites researchers\, professionals\, and stakeholders to join the upcoming webinar “Climate Crisis\, Sustainable Food Systems and the Role of Plant-Based Foods.” \nThe webinar will take place online on 6 October 2026\, from 14:00 to 15:00 CEST\, and will be delivered by Ebru Akdağ\, President of the Plant-Based Foods Association (BİTKİDEN). \nWebinar overview\nThe climate crisis is reshaping discussions around food production\, food safety\, nutrition\, and the sustainability of food systems. Plant-based foods and the efficient use of food-processing resources are increasingly relevant to the transition towards more sustainable and circular food systems. \nThis webinar will explore how plant-rich diets can contribute to climate action and public health and examine the protein transition from traditional staples to next-generation plant-based foods. \nParticular attention will also be given to food-waste reduction and side-stream valorization\, highlighting opportunities to create circular value from food-processing by-products and support more resource-efficient food systems. \nThe session will cover: \n\nThe climate crisis and its implications for food systems and food safety.\nThe role of plant-rich diets in climate action and public health.\nThe transition from traditional staples to next-generation plant-based foods.\nFood-waste reduction and side-stream valorization as approaches to circular value creation.\n\nAbout the speaker\nEbru Akdağ is President of the Plant-Based Foods Association (BİTKİDEN)\, based in Istanbul\, Türkiye. She specializes in food safety\, science-based public health communication\, and sustainable nutrition. \nShe holds a BSc in Food Engineering and an MSc in Engineering Management from Middle East Technical University (METU) and is currently pursuing a PhD in Public Relations and Advertising at Bahçeşehir University. Her research focuses on food communication and misinformation. \nEvent details and registration\nDate: Tuesday\, 6 October 2026\nTime: 14:00–15:00 CEST\nLocation: Online\nParticipation: Free of charge\, with registration required. \nRegister here: https://forms.gle/NeJPy5Y5G99fK1iC9 \nThe meeting link will be available through the registration form. Meeting information will also be resent to registered participants one day before the webinar. \nWe look forward to welcoming the ENFiber community and all interested participants!

SUMMARY:Crossing Socio-Political Barriers in Protein Innovation
DESCRIPTION:APRISE is pleased to announce the upcoming session of its joint webinar series with ENFiber COST Action and ProxIMed. \nThe webinar\, “Crossing Socio-Political Barriers in Protein Innovation\,” will be delivered by Alessandro Monaco\, Postdoctoral Researcher at the Baltic Studies Centre (Riga\, Latvia)\, on 1 September 2026\, from 09:00 to 10:00 CEST\, online via Microsoft Teams. \nThe session will explore how political discourse in the EU frames alternative proteins as unnatural or risky\, and how incumbent actors within the food system influence societal and political debates and shape the regulatory landscape. \nIt will also examine the relationship between societal discourse and policymaking\, and how this dynamic affects innovation in the EU food sector. \nWebinar details\nSpeaker: Alessandro Monaco\, Baltic Studies Centre (Riga\, Latvia)\nDate: 1 September 2026\nTime: 09:00–10:00 CEST\nFormat: Online via Microsoft Teams\nParticipation: Free \nRegister for the webinar \nResearchers\, early-career professionals\, students\, industry representatives\, policymakers\, and anyone interested in alternative proteins\, food innovation and sustainable food systems are warmly invited to participate. \nPlease feel free to share this webinar with your networks. \nWebinar Poster (PDF)

SUMMARY:Webinar: “Insects for Food\, Feed and Beyond: Circular Economy in Practice"
DESCRIPTION:ENFiber\, together with the APRISE and ProxIMed projects\, is pleased to invite you to the first session of a joint webinar series on alternative proteins\, novel foods and sustainable food systems. \nThe webinar\, “Insects for Food\, Feed and Beyond: Circular Economy in Practice\,” will be delivered by Prof. Christos Athanassiou from the University of Thessaly. \nInsect farming is currently one of the fastest-developing livestock production systems. The European Union has played a leading role in developing its regulatory framework and basic infrastructure\, while the sector is also expanding rapidly across North America and parts of Asia. \nInitially focused primarily on food and feed\, insect farming now covers a growing range of applications\, including the production of fertilisers\, plant protection products and other circular-economy solutions. \nThe webinar will consist of a 40-minute presentation followed by a short Q&A. \nDate: 10 August 2026\nTime: 09:00 CEST\nLocation: Online via Microsoft Teams \nParticipation is free and open to everyone\, but registration is required. \nRegister here:\nhttps://forms.gle/J9SwMLYUiBNwQQFz6 \nResearchers\, students\, early-career professionals\, industry representatives and everyone interested in alternative proteins and sustainable food systems are warmly invited to participate. \nWebinar poster (PDF)
